Scotland tours & tickets

Castle tickets, Highland day trips, multi-day island tours, loch cruises and distillery visits — the pick of GetYourGuide, grouped by destination.

Guided tours make more sense in Scotland than in most countries. The roads are narrow, the best scenery is a long way from the cities, drink-drive limits are strict and whisky is half the point. A good driver-guide gets you to Glencoe, Loch Ness or Skye and back without you studying a single passing place.

Everything on this page is a real, currently listed GetYourGuide product. We show the indicative “from” price in euros and the rating at the time we checked (October 2026); both change, so always tap through for live prices in your own currency. The three hubs for departures are Edinburgh (the widest choice), Glasgow (closer to Loch Lomond, Oban and Glencoe) and Inverness (best for Skye, Loch Ness and the far north).

How to choose a Highland tour

  • Coach or small group? Full-size coaches are cheaper. Minicoaches of around 16 seats cost more, load and unload faster and can use roads and lay-bys that big coaches cannot.
  • One long day or two? Loch Ness from Edinburgh is roughly 350 miles (560 km) there and back. If you can spare a night, a two- or three-day tour is far more relaxed.
  • Check what is included. Castle entry, boat cruises and lunch are often extras, paid on the day.
  • Book the seasonal things early. The Jacobite steam train, Skye tours in July and August, and anything during the Edinburgh festivals fill up weeks ahead.
  • Free cancellation. Most products can be cancelled up to 24 hours before for a full refund — useful when the forecast changes. Check the conditions on each listing.

Scotland tours: FAQs

Frequently asked questions

Can you visit Loch Ness as a day trip from Edinburgh?

Yes, and it is the most popular day trip in the country, but it is a twelve-hour day with most of it on the road. From Inverness the loch is only 20 minutes away.

Can you see the Isle of Skye in a day?

From Inverness, yes — it is a long but well-established day tour. From Edinburgh or Glasgow it is not sensible in a day; choose a three-day tour instead. See our Skye tours page.

Are tours suitable for children?

Most day tours accept children, though some small-group operators set a minimum age (often five). Twelve-hour days are hard on small children; shorter trips such as Loch Lomond and Stirling work better.

Do tours run in winter?

The main day trips from Edinburgh, Glasgow and Inverness run all year, with shorter daylight. Boat trips, the steam train and many island tours are seasonal, typically April to October.

Should I tip the guide?

It is not required, but a few pounds per person for a good driver-guide is customary and appreciated.
