Privacy policy

We collect as little as possible. Here is what happens when you use this site.

Summary

ExploreScotland.com is a static information website. We do not ask you to create an account, we do not run our own advertising trackers, and we do not sell personal data.

Information we receive

  • Server logs. Like every website, our hosting provider records technical data such as IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time of the request. These logs are used for security and to keep the site running, and are deleted routinely.
  • Email. If you write to us, we keep your message and address for as long as needed to reply and to keep a record of corrections.
  • Language preference. If you choose a language, the choice is stored in your browser’s local storage so the home page can open in that language next time. It is not sent to us.

Third-party services

  • GetYourGuide. Pages include GetYourGuide’s partner script and booking widgets. When they load, and when you follow a link to GetYourGuide, GetYourGuide may set cookies and process data under its own privacy policy, including to attribute a booking to this site.
  • Trip.com. Hotel links open Trip.com, which applies its own privacy and cookie policies.
  • Fonts. Typefaces are loaded from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address in order to deliver the files.

When you leave this site for a partner’s site, that company is responsible for the data you give it, including payment details. We never see your payment information.

Cookies

We do not set advertising cookies of our own. Cookies may be set by the third-party services described above.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what personal data we hold about you and to have it corrected or deleted. As we hold very little, this is usually limited to email correspondence. Write to [email protected].

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be published on this page.
